Helianthus angustifolius, commonly known as swamp sunflower or narrowleaf sunflower, is a native perennial sunflower species native to the south-central and eastern United States. It is a tall, upright plant that can grow up to 8 feet tall, with showy yellow daisy-like flowers that bloom from mid-summer to fall. Swamp sunflower is a favorite of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and moths. It is also a larval host plant for the silvery checkerspot butterfly.

Swamp sunflower prefers moist to wet soils in full sun, but it can also tolerate part shade and drier soils if adequate moisture is provided. It is a relatively low-maintenance plant, and it is resistant to deer and other herbivores.  It is a valuable addition to native plant gardens, rain gardens, and other wildlife-friendly landscapes. It is also a popular choice for cut flowers and dried flower arrangements.
